The gateway to the Alexander III Bridge consists of a curved walkway, terminated at both ends by two lateral spiral staircases; the wall of the façade is decorated with frescoes.
In the middle part of the hemicycle formed by the footbridge, a gigantic iron mast, one hundred metres high, stands on a steel ball supported by a golden cone.
The mast is held in balance on the ball by a system of metal ropes decorated with multicoloured flags.
