Architect(s) : Prof. G. Florini

The participation of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in the Exhibition, whose origins date back to around 1100, was intended to bear witness to the importance and expansion of the Order's worldwide activities in the fields of hospitality and social welfare and thus to affirm the Order's special character as a sovereign body under public law.

The pavilion of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta was a reproduction of the entrance to the Villa of the Knights of Malta on the Aventine in Rome, built by the famous Italian architect J. B. Piranesi.

Visiting the pavilion you could see the past and present activities of the Order.

You could see a collection of memorabilia and documents from the archives of the Order's Museum in Rome and from various associations.
