An important symbol of the exhibition, the expo tower rises 120 metres (394 feet) into the sky. It stands on a 70-metre hill in the southern part of the Symbol Zone.

New steel techniques and a new design and construction have eliminated the supports that would normally be necessary, so the tower stands gracefully on its three vertical pillars. The observation platforms, open to the public, are located at 75 metres. The tower not only serves as a viewpoint: it is also a radio relay station for press and security personnel.
