The first avenue was characterised by two pergolas built at the north and south ends, which served as places of passage and rest.

One of these pergolas, from which water flowed, consisted of metal supports and a sloping marble cover, from which water flowed continuously. This water flowed from the south to the north of the avenue.
The other pergola ran along the northern edge.

An aqueduct, which ran west to east, rested on glass pillars through which water flowed.
The northern part was paved with dry stone paving.
The aqueduct ended in a cascade which divided into two waterfalls forming the "water gate".
