The Macau government put out a tender for its pavilion, the design of which was to showcase the last Portuguese colony. design should present the last Portuguese colony. The architects Risco / Manuel Salgado and Madalena Duarte Silva won the competition.
The entrance to the pavilion was a smaller reproduction of the ruins of Sao Paulo.
The building was supported by columns and was built around a Chinese garden with a small lake and a zigzag bridge.
The pavilion presents the culture and the territory, so to illustrate the themes in each room were presented reconstructions of scenes of the life of the country.
