The Republic of Panama is the bridge of connection and exchange between the peoples of America; its presence at Expo Zaragoza is an opportunity to get to know in detail an inalienable reality. The Pan-American pavilion is structured in five parts. The river that unites two worlds explains the transcendence of the Chagres riverbed as a place of discovery and conquest of the New World. The Route of the Colossus' shows the importance of this river for the development of the Spanish Crown, the United States and the relationship between the peoples of the world. A route of passage and trade, whose waters maintain relations between countries. Courage, contradictions, agreements, separation and sovereignty are intertwined in a history that shapes the management of the bill of lading and the science to build the Panama Canal. Water, the engine of a nation shows this resource as a strategic element, with a special emphasis on the Panamanian Canal watershed. The fourth part, dedicated specifically to the Canal, shows its importance for the global economy. It explains the changes brought about by its transfer to Panama on the last day of 1999. Finally, the space 'Water, a world of opportunities' presents the project to expand the Canal.
