Naval architecture

Nearby are large and valuable display cases, exhibited by the Société des forges et chantiers de la Méditerranée and the Imperial Navy, the contents of which you will examine with curiosity. There are perfect models of the main types of ships, executed to a scale of three centimetres per metre. All the much talked-about recent innovations in naval architecture are represented. This is a consolation to those who cannot make a voyage from our ports. Without leaving Paris they will have the satisfaction of having seen the Gloire, an 800 horsepower battleship, and the Plongeur, a submarine, and all sorts of floating batteries and battleships and steamers, and transports, and transport-security and the Ambush type, the Arrogant type, the Ram type and the Cher type with or without a pun.
