Under the auspicious shades, the setting of the Pavilion of the City of Paris, pretty garden motifs set in broad braids of renewed flowers, statues, fountains especially: that of Messrs Roux-Spitz and Martial, a fine needle of pink stone reflected in a round basin; that of M. Loyau's, the swans with a wineskin, a curious pyramid-shaped composition; an arch, by Mrs Germaine Fougère, in coloured cement and carved with figures in bas-relief; the very beautiful frieze by Mrs Heuvelmans: illusions and regret in a very "plein air" style, with a happy effect on the dark decor of the yews
