Old Salts Shipyard - Expo Vancouver 1986

Missing picture

Located on the edge of the Kodak Pacific Bowl, the Old Salts shipyards were brought from Chemainus to Vancouver. In Chemainus, the building housed the construction of the Spirit of Friendship, a 28-metre brigantine that travels between Chemainus and EXPO 86. From April to September, the workshop houses the construction of a 34-metre tall ship.

For historical reasons and because of its reliability as a sailing school ship, the Swift, a graceful 18th century schooner, was chosen. The construction is being carried out by local craftsmen from the Robertson II Sail and Life Training Society using British Columbia woods.
