Georgia at the Exhibition Saint-Louis 1904

"Sutherland," the famous home of the late General John Gordon B., located in Kirkwood, one of the suburbs of Atlanta, served as the model for the Georgia State pavilion.

The Georgia Legislature appropriated $30,000 to ensure the state's participation in the Exposition, but made no provision for a building. The need for such a pavilion was so obvious that the Commission, with the aid of a citizens' committee, raised by private subscription $20,000 to build it.
